Who we are

Reliable Transformers had humble beginnings in 1982, in its founders garage. Since then, the company has grown steadily into becoming a significant player in the transformer industry, in South Africa and beyond.

What we offer
​
We are able to design and build just about any type of transformer or related magnetic component. Our state-of-the-art in-house developed design modeling software does away with the need for prototyping. We get it right first time.

While some of our employees have more than 20 years service, we continually appoint young people in an effort to bring new ideas and vigor to all our departments.

We have a strong design team, we write our own software and we employ state-of-the-art CNC machines throughout our factory.

Our Customers
​
From our Head office in Benoni, 20km from Johannesburg in South Africa, we service a growing network of customers throughout Southern Africa, the SADC region in Africa and beyond.

We are many of our customer's best kept secret. Some of our customers have been buying from RT since it was founded in 1982.
Plant and equipment
​
Our factory spanning 5000 sq m is fully serviced by overhead cranes.
Coil winding:
Our winding shop is equipped with a variety of winding machines, ranging from manually operated to fully automated equipment, capable of winding wire and foil in copper and aluminium.
​
Insulation:
We use CNC router equipment to precision machine all our insulating parts accurately to 0.1mm tolerances. Barely touched by human hands, we are assured of consistent quality and superior performance where it matters most.
Steel fabrication:
Our plate processing plant employs plasma profile cutting and CNC bending equipment to accurately cut and bend all our steel parts.
Our team of coded welders are able to perform MIG, TIG and ARC welding to exacting standards.
Final Assembly:
Our purpose-built final assembly workshop is equipped with four overhead cranes, single and three phase power and compressed air supply in each of our sixteen assembly bays.
Testing:
Our test bay employs top quality test instruments, maintained and calibrated by SANAS accredited labs.
We are capable of performing all routine tests in accordance with the relevant SANS and IEC standards.
Our test facilities are currently being upgraded.
